ReciPeats (recipeats.org) is built to keep recipe browsing simple. We do not sell data, run ad trackers, or require an account.
What we collect
We do not collect personal information on our servers. There is no login, no analytics SDK, and no crash-reporting service in the website or Android app.
Data stored on your device
The site and app may save preferences locally in your browser or WebView storage (localStorage / sessionStorage), including:
- Favorite recipes
- Ingredient checklist state (Android app)
- Per-recipe notes (Android app)
- Default scale multiplier and metric/US preference
- Offline cache status and banner dismissals
- Cooking mode preference (current session)
This data stays on your device. We do not receive it unless you choose to contact us (X DM or the recipe submission form).
Offline caching
The website uses a service worker to cache pages and assets on your device after you visit while online (roughly 5 MB for the full catalog). The Android app loads the same site and uses the same cache. Cached content is not sent to us.
Recipe submission
The Submit a Recipe form runs in your browser. It builds a markdown file on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers unless you choose Email to ReciPeats (your mail app) or contact us another way.

The app does not access contacts, location, microphone, or camera.
Third-party links
Recipes and pages may link to external sites (e.g. social media, contributor profiles). We do not control those sites.
Some pages may embed third-party widgets (e.g. Twitter/X). Those services may set their own cookies if you load those embeds.
Children
ReciPeats does not knowingly collect information from children. The service is a general-audience recipe site.
Changes
We may update this policy occasionally. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
